The Rules of Matching- Kitchens

The Rules of Matching Kitchens There is so much to keep in mind when creating the kitchen of your dreams. Are you remodeling or are you starting from scratch? Do you know what you need? Cabinets, counter tops, flooring, back splashes? Trust me, there are an infinite number of things you could want when remodeling. COORDINATION is key.  You want to keep styles in mind when putting your kitchen together. Whether you're going for contemporary, farmhouse, or anything else, harmony is important. In the picture to the right, though the look is difficult to explain, it is still understandable. They are going for a bit of a farmhouse look with all of the wooden beams, but keeping it modern with simple white cabinets. The darkest part of the countertop is mutual to the color of the flooring, bringing this kitchen together. Balancethe colors. In the picture to the left, the countertops and flooring tie together through multiple similar colors. The colors don't clash because the tiles aren't all the same pattern. They are different tiles that have colors from the countertops but not too much pattern. The cabinets are a neutral country oak tone that looks good with both the floors and the countertops without clashing. If you are leaning towards a kitchen that uses numerous shades of one color or tone, choose floor tiles that single out the darkest color in the cabinets. The glaze color of your cabinet is the ideal color for your floors. The glaze in the cabinets to the right isn't extremely dark so it ties in well with the light floors. The darkest part of the floors also ties in the colors of the kitchen cabinets for a perfect match! There are always exceptionsto the "rules". Some recent kitchens have been created with a "sailor" theme. They consist of navy blue cabinets, white countertops, and floors made to look like the deck of a ship. None of that goes with the coordination or balance I recently mentioned, but it works. If you have a vision, have a designer create it for you! There are technologies today that let you see your dreams before you make the "big move", and that allows you to test whatever you want! This is YOUR kitchen, not mine or anyone else's, so don't let anyone else tell you what you want! Even if you change things up from the "normal trends" you can still fall in love with the outcome! This is a prime example ofbreaking the rules. The colored cabinets are minimal and very simple. There is a small patterned black and white floor tile that outlines the deep brown wooden floor. There is an old fashioned yellow stove, while other appliances are stainless steel, the dining table is wooden, and the countertop is partially wooden and partially stone. A white farmhouse sink is to the right of the stove. Off-white wooden panels make up the wall and there is a white brick backsplash behind the stove. There are so many potential ways for clashing to occur within this kitchen, but it works because someone had a vision. You can see their personality with every detail they put into this farmhouse style kitchen!Traditional cabinets, decorative painted cabinets and raised panel cabinets can look very good with a patterned floor. One current trend is navy or gray cabinets with tiles that have geometric patterns. The tiles that people are choosing usually consist of whites, grays, creams, blues, or black. Colors that are more bold than that aren't usually found in the flooring, but whatever you want is possible for the right price!     Visit our blog again to learn more about matching hardware and lighting fixtures.
