Flooring- What Options Do You Have?

Carpet

Carpet has the ability to keep the air in your home allergen free, if you clean it properly. It is the go-to flooring option for people who love to keep their feet warm on cold days. There are nearly infinite choices to look through when choosing flooring. Spots and stains often seem like the end of the world for a carpet owner, but there are multiple ways to clean a carpet! From club soda, to white vinegar, to salt, there are many tips and tricks to cleaning your carpet.

Hardwood

Hardwood is said to be very durable. Any scratches that may occur can besanded and finished. Hardwood is east to clean. It is milled from oak, walnut, maple, hickory, or other options that are similar. Hardwood can be more expensive than its man-made opponents.

Engineered Wood

Engineered wood is man made to look like hardwood but it is supposed to be more durable. It is more resistant to water damage than hardwood. Engineered wood is an easy installation. Engineered wood is usually slightly cheaper in price than hardwood.

Laminate

Laminate is a quick and easy installation. It isn't the best option for resisting moisture. Laminate flooring is very easy to clean. You don't want to mop with too much water, so laminate floor cleaner is a top choice because it keeps the floors from retaining moisture. Laminate is very resistant to dents and scratches. Laminate cannot be refinished, if it gets messed up, it must be replaced. Laminate is known for being very slippery, but you can look forward to an underlay that is usually included. The underlay makes it more bearable to stand in front of a stove or sink for long periods of time. Laminate does not have a good resale value if you are looking to redo your floors before selling your house.

Tile

Tile flooring has a wide range of options, from colors to designs you have plenty to choose from. Tile is usually either ceramic or porcelain. It is easy to clean and used for both indoor and outdoor environments. The installation requires a good bit of work, with grout being a pain in the butt. Grout is also easily stained and hard to clean. The cost is usually decent in comparison to other flooring options such as carpet or tile.

 

Bamboo

Bamboo flooring is very similar to hardwood flooring, but with less options of color. It is good for the economy and a newer choice for modern homes. Bamboo flooring is supposedly very durable, east to clean, and easy to install. Bamboo is one of the more expensive choices on the market due to the fact that it is very limited.
